I know I should give some sort of explanation here. I should say all the things this episode is about, but, I’m tired. This has been a week, and instead of explaining all of the things, I am just going to say – go and listen to this conversation with Robert! He is sharing his story – one that so many of us have lived through in our own ways and in our own contexts – and I am grateful. This story is about frustration with the white church in America, and gaining the courage to say something about it. Right now, it feels especially appropriate to guide us toward conversations like this one. We are still less than one week out from the election – an election in which white evangelicals stood with the former president in the same consistent ways they have since 2016 – and so many of us who do not fit that demographic are grieving. My heart is broken over it, again. And still, the assignment for the rest of us hasn’t changed. We resist; we disrupt; we bear witness.
