Hi! I’m Alexis….
A wife, mom, and seminary student aiming to ask good questions and encourage others to do the same! I have spent so much of my Christian life trying to live up to what I thought were all the right answers – the right way to live, worship, parent, work, be in relationship, follow Jesus – only to realize asking good and thoughtful questions leads me closer to the way of Jesus than insisting on the right answers will any day. It’s only taken me two decades to figure this out, but hey! better late than never.
I live in Houston with my awesome husband, Seth, who produces the That Makes Total Sense! podcast, and our four amazing, smart, goofy children. We also have two not-very-well-trained pooches, Brunhidle (a brindle English mastiff) and her older, but baby, sister Agnes (a puggle). After working in state social work, staying home with my kids, and then opening a small personal finance coaching business, I felt the tug to go back to school – specifically to pursue a Master of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary. My first masters degree is in social justice, which I believe is close to the heart of God, but studying justice from a biblical perspective is key to understanding the breadth and depth of the gospel.
Since asking questions of God and myself is where I live right now, I decided to invite others along! On the podcast I have the opportunity to ask experts, authors, and other believers who are living this out what it means to seek generosity and justice tangibly in their lives. We’re all in this together and That Makes Total Sense! is a journey in a podcast toward the heart of God, exploring His generosity and justice, seeking out how to live it every single day. I hope you’ll join me, a student just trying to keep learning, as we pursue generosity and justice together.
Cheers!
Alexis
