Any time I get to talk with Dr. Brenda, I consider it to be a good day (and this recording day was a good day!). We chatted about her newest book, Empowered to Repair, which takes its themes from the story surrounding Ezra and Nehemiah (don’t worry if it’s been a minute since you’ve read those prophets, she’ll catch you up in this convo, lol). For those who may not know, Dr. Brenda is a minister who has been working, and teaching, in reconciliation spaces for decades. In her time, she has learned a thing or two about what works, what doesn’t, and how to shift our thinking and allow ourselves to be formed by the Spirit in doing this hard work. I am so grateful for her voice, wisdom, and generosity to share them both with us here.
