This conversation is (checks notes) the first where I talked with a husband and wife together, in this case, co-authors! Amy Dixon and Rob Dixon joined me to celebrate the release of their illustrated children’s book, Penny Preaches, which chronicles a fictional little girl (representative of so many women who feel called to preaching ministry, myself included!) who senses something within her drawn to the pulpit, is second guessed by her (mostly male) peers, and then sees that very thing modeled in a pastor at a church where her family intentionally visits. Neither Rob nor Amy are strangers to this story either. We also discuss Rob’s book Together in Ministry, where he explores what it can look like when women and men work together toward flourishing in ministry.
An important note – for some listeners, the information here is a given. For others, there may be some pushback. For many of us, the conversation here is indicative of the kind of journey we find ourselves on related to our call as women or the men who love them.
