This conversation with Rev. Dr. Mae Elise Cannon was originally released in December of 2021. In it, Mae gives a brief, but rich, balanced, and incredibly well-informed explanation of the history of the Israel/Palestinian conflict. Mae is the executive director of Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP), a coalition working to promote sound U.S. policy as well as provide holistic education on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. The conversation around the topic is nuanced and complex, still Mae and CMEP challenge and encourage Christians to believe that “…Justice can prevail. Peace is possible.”
*Note in this episode, when either of us mention the “recent conflict” we were speaking of an escalation in violence that occurred in May of 2021.* For updates from Churches for Middle East Peace, the organization where Mae serves as Executive Director, on the current Israel/Hamas war in October 2023 (though Mae has mentioned, even the name is a misnomer for the situation on the ground), please see their YouTube channel and visit their website.
