Sarah Quezada, author of Love Undocumented joins me on the podcast this week! With Christmas coming, what better way to begin our week than with a story from the beautiful tradition of Las Posadas? If you’re not familiar, it is a Latin American Christmas tradition where friends, family, and neighbors reenact Mary and Joseph looking for lodging. This is where we start, but her telling of Las Posadas is just part of Sarah’s story. When Sarah moved to Los Angeles, she met the man she would later marry. At the time though, she didn’t realize how his immigration status would affect the beginning of their lives together. In her heartfelt book, Sarah weaves the progression of her life with Billy with facts about our immigration system in the United States. The wisdom and call for compassion she passes on to us in this conversation is profound.
Sarah is also on staff with Women of Welcome, a “community dedicated to diving into the whole of scripture to understand God’s heart for the immigrant and refugee.”
