Dan Kimball is one of the founders of Vintage Faith Church in Santa Cruz, CA. He is also the author of his newest book, How (Not) to Read the Bible: Making Sense of the Anti-Women, Anti-Science, Pro-Violence, Pro-Slavery & Other Crazy-Sounding Parts of Scripture. Even the subtitle covers a lot, but the birth of the book came from a place many of us know well. Maybe you are this person, or maybe you know someone who grew up in church and is now venturing out into a more independent faith. The famous Bible stories have faded and now, face to face with some of the more obscure passages that sound outright crazy, the faith starts to fade as well. Dan understands the predicament all too well and offers some practical advice on how to read the Bible well, so you can see the heart of God behind the words.
