I am so thrilled to welcome *back* to the podcast, Dr. Terence Lester! (In case you missed his other appearances, they’re here, here, and here – with his daughter, and co-author, Zion!) During this conversation, we discuss race-based educational injustices in the U.S., along with Terence’s own story of experiencing the educational system as a Black student in Georgia as told in his newest book, From Dropout to Doctorate. His journey, while unique to him, also contains elements common to racially and ethnically minoritized individuals and communities in the U.S. These students are all too often written off, their potential and successes hindered by our systems. I hope you, like me, walk away from this conversation having learned something new, gaining fresh perspectives on this important topic.
