Terence Lester is the founder of Love Beyond Walls, a non-profit based in Atlanta serving people experiencing homelessness. At the beginning of the coronavirus spread early in 2020, the work Terence and his organization had been doing pivoted to meet the changing needs of the people they served. Since handwashing was high on the list of lifesaving activities, he realized he needed to put “sinks in the streets.” The project Love Sinks In was born, allowing for people experiencing homelessness to do the simple and protective act of washing their hands in the midst of a worldwide pandemic.
In this episode, Terence and I talked about his newest book, When We Stand: The Power of Seeking Justice Together. This book and conversation are a must for anyone wanting to know how to be of service to and with the people nearest to us. Terence encourages and challenges each of us to generously bring our gifts to the community for the purpose of doing justice in the world.
