Have you ever heard a phrase that sticks with you? So much so, that you find yourself turning it over again and again in your mind, discovering its relevance to new situations in your life? Sometimes those brief sentences can have massive impact on how we think and interact with the world. Well, from my perspective, Becoming Neighbors by Amar Peterman is one of those text that is packed full of phrases like that. It seemed that every time I turned one of the pages in this short but deep volume I ran into another sentence that would stay with me far beyond the end of that chapter.
Amar and I talked about everything from neighbor love being a call to stranger love, to enjoyment, to diversity, and common good. We started by naming how our faith and desires are formed and cultivated by practicing neighbor love, and the rest of the conversation flowed from there.
