A note from the producer: “I normally try to get the podcasts done over the weekend so they can release Sunday night or Monday morning. This weekend however, I was off climbing on rocks and doing professional work – noting my usual day job is not a producer. Anyways, I hope listeners don’t mind that we opted to replay an older episode. I thought it’d be worthwhile to replay this discussion with Sam Won. He’s a professor and is incredibly smart and thoughtful. And he’s fighting for social justice and teaching people about racism from within a traditionally conservative religious institution. New TMTS listeners who missed the original airing might like to see how Sam frames that dialog from within his context. Enjoy!” – SB
Dr. Young-Sam Won is the Associate Director of Ministry Formation and an Adjunct Professor of Old Testament at Dallas Theological Seminary. He’s also a hoot to follow on Twitter! Sam loves to explore the topics of justice and ethnicity from a biblical (specifically Old Testament) perspective and I am here for it. In this conversation, we go all the way back to Abraham, the father of our faith, and the promises God made with him and his descendants. We also talk about systemic provisions for justice and mercy by exploring texts from the Torah. Biblical studies nerds, this episode is for you!
