Joel Edward Goza joined me on the podcast to talk about his newest book, Rebirth of a Nation: Reparations and Remaking America. You might recognize in the title, a take on another title, The Birth of a Nation, an incredibly harmful and racist film shown at the White House in 1915 by president Woodrow Wilson. In the book, Joel explores parts of our racist history through the stories and writings of national leaders, some who are still household names and others less well-known, but no less influential. We also talk about the need for reparations, and what that process might look like to implement, logistically and systemically.
