Episode 192 - David Lamb
/

Dr. David Lamb is a biblical scholar and professor at Missio Seminary. His most recent book, The Emotions of God, is the topic of our discussion for this episode. As noted in the brief intro to our conversation, there are places where David and I don’t see eye to eye and that’s okay. The subjects we cover in this conversation and that David writes of in his book are difficult to process. One of the skills (and permissions) I have taken from my time in seminary is to allow for wrestling with the biblical text. When we read that God “hates” someone that should cause an amount of discomfort to rise in us. When we read of God “punishing” people groups for their sins, it’s perfectly acceptable to feel some resistance. Ultimately, one of the primary goals I have for myself, want to submit to all listeners of this podcast, is that we would be challenged not to seek out where we feel we are correct theologically, but that we would be encouraged to ask better questions of ourselves, God, and others.
