Phil Armstrong is the Program Director for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial Commission. As a native Oklahoman I was shocked when, in my mid-30’s, I first heard about the events in the Greenwood District of Tulsa for the first time. In this last year in our country race relations have been brought to the forefront again, and you too may have heard of the massacre on Black Wall Street where hundreds were killed and city blocks of businesses and homes were burned to the ground a century ago. If not, open your heart and your ears to what Phil has to say. As he poignantly declares in his work and his words, we need to be aware of our history in order to live our futures well together.
