MaryAnn McKibben Dana gave me words, in this conversation and her new book Better Than Normal, that I have been searching for. When questions arise like – What makes this the standard? or How can I fit in here (or is that even necessary)? we sometimes don’t realize that we are actually questioning what is “normal.” For some of us, that can feel a little scary. The status quo feels nice, I mean, maybe it’s the status quo for a reason. But MaryAnn braves to ask not only, what is normal anyway, but how can we take steps toward living inclusive lives that are actually better than normal.
