Episode 049 - Sarah Jackson, Casa de Paz

Sarah Jackson is the founder of Casa de Paz and author of The House That Love Built: Why I Opened My Door to Immigrants and How We Found Hope Beyond a Broken System. Sarah wasn’t looking to become an advocate in the complicated world of immigration in the U.S.; it just kind of happened to her. One trip to the border of Mexico and Arizona and she couldn’t look away from what she saw. Really – she couldn’t look away from the people she saw.

Sarah encountered real people with real stories of tragedy and loss and she knew she had to do something to help. What started as helping and housing immigrants and their families in her one-bedroom apartment near Denver, CO has evolved into a place of love and hope today, complete with a volunteer army and relationships with church pastors and ICE staff alike.

Reading Sarah’s book was like Immigration 101 for me. I entered this discussion not unlike Sarah at the beginning of her journey, with all kinds of blind spots, but the stories she tells both in the book and in our conversation on the podcast have helped open my eyes to seeing people how Jesus sees them.

I can’t wait for you to hear!
